(Home >> DNS Functions >> Synchronize DNS Records)

Overview

This feature is useful if you are using a DNS cluster setup, but find that some servers in the cluster are giving outdated responses to DNS queries. This feature can compare zone files among servers, recognize which are the most up-to-date, and update the servers in the cluster.

Synchronize records

To perform the sync:

  1. Consider whether you wish to sync all domains’ zone files, or just 1, and whether you wish to update all servers in the cluster, or just this server. Then choose the type of sync you wish to perform:
    • If you wish to copy 1 updated zone file to this server only, select Synchronize one zone to this server only and enter the domain name whose zone file you wish to update.
    • If you wish to copy updated versions of local zone files from the other servers in the cluster to this server only, select Synchronize all zones to this server only.
      • If you wish to copy updated versions of all zone files to this server only (including zones not local to this server), select Synchronize zones that are not configured on this server.
    • If you wish to copy 1 updated zone file from 1 server to all others in the cluster, click Synchronize one zone to all servers and enter the domain name whose zone file you wish to update.
    • If you wish to copy updated versions of all local zone files to all servers in the cluster, click Synchronize all zones to all servers.
      • If you wish to copy updated versions of all zone files (including zones not local to this server) to all servers in the cluster, select Synchronize zones that are not configured on this server.
  2. After making your selection, click Synchronize
