Overview

These functions allow you install Microsoft® FrontPage extensions. FrontPage extensions allow a user to publish their website directly from their computer via the FrontPage website editing application.

Install FrontPage extensions

FrontPage extensions  allow users to publish their websites through the Microsoft FrontPage application.

Warning:

Microsoft® discontinued support for FrontPage extensions on Linux servers in 2006. You should exercise caution when installing FrontPage extensions, as they have been known to cause security issues. It is recommended that you use another publishing method, such as FTP or WebDAV. For security reasons, we no longer provide FrontPage extensions within EasyApache. If you wish to install FrontPage, you must install the Custom Module.

Important:

  • The FrontPage Custom Module is only compatible with Apache version 2.2.
  • You must install the Custom Module before the features on the FrontPage screen (Home >> Front Page) will function correctly.

To begin:

  1. Select the account on which you would like to install FrontPage extensions.
  2. Click Install.

Warning:

If you install FrontPage extensions, .htaccess files will be deleted. These are directory configuration files which contain password information. You will need to reconfigure any protected directories after FrontPage extensions are installed on an account.

Install FrontPage mail extensions

FrontPage mail extensions allow your users to use FrontPage to set up mail forms for their websites. These forms allow visitors to send email to the website administrator.

Warning:

  • Microsoft discontinued support for FrontPage extensions on Linux servers in 2006. You should exercise caution when installing FrontPage extensions, as they have been known to cause security issues. It is recommended that you use another publishing method, such as FTP or WebDAV.
  • Installing FrontPage mail extensions installs the extensions on all domains hosted by the server. Exercise caution when installing FrontPage mail extensions.

Uninstall FrontPage extensions

You are able to uninstall FrontPage extensions for any of your domains.

To do so:

  1. Select the account for which you would like to uninstall the extensions.
  2. Click UnInstall.
